More than 1,700 sessions of interest to speechlanguage pathologists will be offered, many of which explore cross-discipline topics. The speech-language pathology program includes more than two dozen short courses, pre-convention workshops, and lunch sessions, and hundreds of seminars, posters, and technical sessions. You will be able to search the entire program on the “My Planner” site (https://convention.asha. org/2009/networking_login.cfm, see p. 27 for details) and create your convention schedule that focuses on the topics most relevant to your practice. You can search sessions by topic, time, and presenter. Unlike printed materials, the information is constantly updated. You will not receive a printed program book in advance (they will be distributed at the convention), 9900_summer2009:asha_half_page_horiz 7/8/09 • Speech sound disorders in children • Swallowing and swallowing disorders • Treatment of hearing loss and (central) auditory processing disorders in children • (Re)habilitation and educational issues • Voice, resonance, and alaryngeal speech As summer winds down, it’s time to look ahead to fall. Then we consider how best to help you face the future prepared and undaunted. The answer lies in the programs and presentations that await you in New Orleans. I look forward to joining you in November to experience a great ASHA 2009! Alex F. Johnson, PhD, CCC-SLP, is the 2009 ASHA Convention co-chair in speech-language pathology.
