Over her 30-year career as a hospitality designer, Forrest has often chosen to stand her ground against formidable resistance. In 1986, she launched Deborah Lloyd Forrest Associates, joining a small circle of female design entrepreneurs breaking through the glass ceiling. Having impressed the industry with early work on legendary historic hotels such as The Empress in Victoria, B.C., she built a style around a rich color sense and layered luxury design at a time when many designers were preaching minimalist dogma.
