From living walls to curving wooden columns, Davis (left)
and Meyer set out to prove that urban cool should be just as
inviting and organic as it is streamlined chic. Since founding the
New York-based firm bearing their surnames in 1999, they've
brought that flair to hospitality projects as diverse as 1 Hotel
South Beach and the St. Cecilia restaurant in Atlanta, which won
a Gold Key award for design excellence in 2014. For more on how

rAcHeL reIDer
rEidEr is vEry comfortable working with Lark Hotels. During the past eight years,
the Boston-based designer has created the interiors of 11 hotels for the boutique
chain. Based on that track record, Reider and Lark recently took their relationship
to a new level: she was made a partner by the hotelier, and also named its design
director. (She will still run her eponymous interiors firm.) Reider left her comfort zone
behind by adopting a white-on-white foundation for her most recent Lark project: 21
Broad on Nantucket. To see how that turned out, see page 38.

Enough is nEvEr enough for Paris-based Garcia. Since the 1980s, he's brought
a love of opulence, exquisite fabrics and historically inspired detailing to projects
from hotels such as Paris' La Reserve to a gallery in Versailles that brings the palace
of Louis XIV's heyday to life. For more on how Garcia's vision is helping to shape the
