Did you get a chance to hang out at Design Poole's "Sojourn Lounge"
Designed Space on the trade fair floor at last year's Boutique Design New York
(BDNY)? If so, you'll soon have something in common with patrons of a new
shared-office complex in central Florida.
Here's why: major elements of the BDNY space-which was designed
to evoke the golden age of train travel with luxury lounging spaces and
casual conversation areas-have been moved about 1,000 miles south, to
Hub 925, a 2,000-sq.ft. co-working space that's slated to open this month
in Dr. Phillips, Fla. (That community is a suburb of Orlando named for a
local businessman/philanthropist.)
"Hub 925 is the brainchild of two local business women who decided
to create a shared-office business after they were frustrated by their
own efforts to find such space for their firms," says Design Poole president Trisha Poole. "In our initial conversations with the owners about
the design style they were looking for, the key words that kept coming
up were industrial, cool and hip-but also warm and inviting. We immediately knew the Sojourn Lounge was precisely what they were looking

for. Even the Hub 925 name was a nice fit, as it reflects the train-inspired
concept we had developed for the BDNY lounge."
Poole contacted Ariston Hospitality, the manufacturer of the lounge's
furnishings, casegoods and trellis structure, and found out those items
were still available at what Poole describes as "a very reasonable price."
In addition to those elements from the Sojourn Lounge, Poole's firm
outfitted the Hub 925 space with portable desks, task chairs and a woodclad, phone booth-like structure for private conversations.
"The space plan we developed created zones for socializing and
working," she notes. "The client also wanted an area for stretching and
lounging, so we created a 'quiet zone' with sofas and an open area for yoga
mats. All the other elements of the design came from the Sojourn Lounge.
So, when Hub 925 opens, the spirit of the lounge will live on!"
This year's BDNY, Nov. 8-9, at the Javits Convention Center, will feature
