Bride & Groom: Emma Blain and Andrew Macken Location: The Ritz-Carlton Powerscourt, County Wicklow PhotoGraPher: Nicola Webster (nicolawebster.com) For their fall wedding, Emma Blain and Andrew Macken of Dublin wanted to show off Ireland’s spectacular scenery to guests traveling from far away to join the celebration. Luckily, the decision was easy. “The Ritz-Carlton Powerscourt is in County Wicklow, which is called the ‘garden of Ireland’,” says Emma. “We knew that nowhere else could compare.” Emma and Andrew quickly bonded with the team at the hotel. After a private consultation, “we knew exactly what the couple craved,” says Breffne Costello, director of catering sales. Following the ceremony, 175 friends and family gathered amid Powerscourt’s rolling hills to kick off the festivities with champagne, cider and Irish-inflected hors d’oeuvres. The opulent ballroom was the perfect backdrop for a feast of smoked salmon rillette, colcannon soup, local sea bass, bacon-crusted beef tenderloin and rich desserts. A band and DJ kept the party going with 1990s dance tunes. For their loved ones, the fete was well worth the trip: “Our guests are still talking about the day,” Emma says. “Everything was beyond our expectations.
