The AHEPAN - Spring 2009 - (Page 6)

soNs aNd Maids Messages Sons of Pericles to Maximize Communication Flow Via Internet, E-News By Supreme President Dean Tselepis First and foremost, I would like to thank all four outgoing National Presidents of each Order: Ike Gulas (AHEPA), Barbara Stavis Wolf (Daughters of Penelope), Stephanie Maniatis (Maids of Athena), and most important to me, Demetrios Vidalis, who did a superb job this past year as the leader of the Sons of Pericles. Demetri accomplished many of the goals he set forth when he took office one year ago. These are goals that the Supreme Lodge, our members, and I will build upon this year and for years to come. We will continue to enhance our new website (www.sonsofpericles.com) with constant updates and individual chapter page links. Both will allow for an increased flow of information about news and events. Continuing on that trend, we will unveil our new monthly email newsletters, similar to the ones of AHEPA and the Daughters. We believe these two simple additions will help to increase membership and knowledge of our accomplishments even further in the coming administrative year. I look forward to continuing the momentum we generated during the past year with the new Supreme Lodge. Our officers are: Supreme VicePresident Spiro Nicolopoulos, Atlanta; Supreme Secretary Manolis Sfinarolakis, Dean Tselepis Waterbury, Conn.; Supreme Treasurer Haralambos Tsivikos, Asbury Park, N.J., who was re-elected. Our Supreme Governors are: Nikos Antonopoulos, Seattle, Wash.; Michael Michalopulos, Tulsa, Okla., who was re-elected; and Capt. Peter Catsulis, New Orleans. All members of the Lodge are excited to start the year and continue the growth and traditions of the Sons of Pericles. Maids of Athena Selects “Penelope House” as its National Project By Grand President Sia Zois It is my deep honor to address you as the newly elected Maids of Athena Grand President. The Maids of Athena has already started with a bang hosting the largest attendance of delegates in recent memory at the 2009 Supreme Convention. The passion and enthusiasm felt during that week is reflected in this year’s Grand Lodge: Kiki Amanatidis is serving as Grand Vice-President; Victoria Pavlopoulos as Grand Secretary; Marianthe Kolokithas as Grand Treasurer; Angela Armstrong as Grand Governor; and Demi Thomas is our Grand Advisor. Our year will begin with the annual Governors’ Conference, September 11 and 12, and we have planned a meeting that will be engaging and beneficial to all who attend. There we will launch our new Growth and Expansion project that is by far the most creative program the Grand Lodge has ever presented. Any Maids of Athena member who holds a leadership position and is interested in attending the conference should contact the Grand Lodge. Most importantly, at this year’s Governors’ Conference, the Grand Lodge looks to the entire AHEPA family to support its first fundraiser for the organization’s National Project, Penelope House. Please join us Saturday evening, Sia Zois September 12, for “I Survived a Greek Game Show” to be held at the hotel. We request a $5 minimum donation to enter. Start your evening with a little friendly competition and lots of laughs. You may even win a prize! It looks to be a year full of new and innovative ideas as the Grand Lodge seeks to keep our membership interested and connected on a national level. Central to this is our focus on the three core values of our Order: Truth, Goodness and Beauty. If you know of anyone or group of young women interested in joining us, please contact the Grand Lodge at moagrandlodge@gmail.com. the ahepan Spring 2009 www.ahepa.org http://www.sonsofpericles.com http://www.sonsofpericles.com http://www.ahepa.org
