US Airways - July 2012 - (Page 6)

embark CEO Letter Thank you for Flying With US A Month of Firsts As the United States celebrates its 236th birthday this month, many of us will gather with family and friends to celebrate the values that make our country great and to give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy. This month at US Airways, we’re also celebrating new connections between our nation’s capital and communities of all sizes. On July 11, we’ll begin daily nonstop service between Washington D.C.’s Reagan National Airport and Augusta, Georgia; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Fayetteville, Arkansas; Montreal, Quebec; and Toronto, Ontario. Business, leisure, government, and military travelers in these cities will now have convenient access to Washington’s downtown airport and access to more connecting service throughout the East Coast. ★ the inaugural flight Ready for the (on-time) inaugural flight from Islip, New york, to Washington, D.C.: Town Supervisor Tom Croci, Senator Charles Schumer, Councilwoman Trish Bergin Weichbrodt, Congressman Peter King, Aviation Commissioner Teresa Rizzuto, and US Airways’ Vice President, Government Affairs, Tom Chapman. US Airways began connecting Islip and 10 other communities with Washington, D.C., on March 25. These aren’t the only new flights we’ve added at Reagan. This spring we started new daily service to 17 communities across the United States, including Islip, New York; Pensacola, Florida; Little Rock, Arkansas; and San Diego, California. After our new flights launch on July 11, we’ll offer our customers new daily service on 22 routes and a total of 237 daily flights from Reagan National Airport. To support our expanded service and make your travel experience with us more convenient and productive, we are adding more gates on the Center Pier and building a second US Airways Club conveniently located near these new departure gates. We’ve also brought on 100 more employees at Reagan National to serve our customers. More than 1,300 US Airways team members are based in Washington, D.C. Many of them give back to the community by participating in service projects with the Do Crew, US Airways’ employee volunteer corps. We are grateful for the thousands of hours that they, and members of the Do Crew in our other key cities, selflessly give to help make the communities we serve better places in which to live and work. Visit us on Facebook (facebook.com/USAirways) and Twitter (twitter.com/USAirways) to stay up to date on the many community events we have planned in Washington this month. Our employees will be out and about to show gratitude to the community by giving back to the people and neighborhoods that are at the foundation of our success. July is an exciting month for US Airways, and we are thrilled to share this excitement with our customers in Washington, D.C., and to offer new and expanded service to 22 communities. On behalf of the 32,000 employees of US Airways, thank you for flying with us. We hope to see you on another flight with us soon.
