Iron Mountain Lodge and Marina's rental
properties are a log cabin motif with modern
amenities.

" We're following state-mandated cleaning procedures for
all units. One of the main things we do is not re-enter a room
once it's been sanitized. We also try to avoid going places that
expose us to COVID to keep staff and clients safe. " He adds,
" We host a lot of family reunions and meetings in our lakeside conference center. It is set up with a 48-person conference
room on one side with full kitchen and a standard two-bedroom/two-bath lakeside unit on the opposite side. It has two
queen and two full size beds. "
Besides cabins, the Egleston's are currently constructing a
17-space luxury RV park on a peninsula with gorgeous views in
every direction and the deepest boat launch on the lake. They
offer electric, water and sewer hook-ups, internet and individual car and boat trailer parking. There will also be a handicap
accessible shower house with additional toilet facilities and a
dump station. It's immediately adjacent to " S " Dock, which at
a quarter-mile long, is one of the largest covered boat docks in
the U.S. That dock alone offers 46 slips for houseboats, some
up to 100 feet in length. In addition, each house boat has two
30 x 24 courtesy slips for additional watercraft.
Altogether, Iron Mountain has 19 docks containing over 600
slips for everything from sailboats to luxury yachts. In addition
to providing marine fueling facilities for vessels coming in from
the lake, they also rent party barges, pull-behind tubes and
they can even refill your SCUBA tanks. Iron Maintain Marina
operates fire, rescue and recovery boats for Clark County.
While Arkadelphia Life was taking the tour, houseboat owner
Tom Galbraith joined us at the marina. He says of Iron Mountain, " I've had a houseboat here for three years and people on
the dock and at the marina have become some of my dearest friends. I spend every spare moment at the lake. I've got
a floating three-bedroom residence under roof right on the
water. My two kids and their families come here all the time. In
20 steps, we can be on my pontoon or bass boat. I know more
about our boat neighbors than I do about folks I've lived next

door to in El Dorado for 40 years. It's the closest thing to an
extended family I've ever had. "
Egleston addressed one more important feature of the property and surrounding park. " The mountain bike trails are a huge
draw. They're separate from Iron Mountain and are the original vision of a private individual named Fred Phillips. " Phillips
and DLT Event Management designed the 30-mile network of
amazing cycle paths. " They began building in 2008, " Egleston
says, " and were just completed in January with the opening of
the last two and a half-miles of Joe's Garage. The 'Pink Cadillac
Trail' connects Iron Mountain to the other six trails. " Visionary
Phillips came up with the whimsical trail names that include
Yellow Snow, Jolly Green Giant, Clockwork Orange, The White
Zone, Blue Bayou and Joe's Garage (see related article on
page 54). " We're holding our second trail run here mid-March.
We already have over 130 registrants. The start and finish line
will be in front of our marina. We'll have tents set up with social
distancing protocol and lodging available for bikers. "
As for 2021, Egleston concludes, " We don't know yet what
to expect but we're looking for another record season. It became clear to me last year how many opportunities we have
in Arkansas for folks to get outdoors and do whatever activity
they desire from lakes and rivers to trails. "
