IASIU President's Message

Welcome to this edition of SIU Today

the award winning publication of IASIU. In this edition, you'll
find practical examples and knowledge of the insurance fraud
issue from around the world. Articles and stories were written
by experts in their field available to IASIU Members. I mention
award winning because SIU Today won the 2017 Apex Award for
Publication Excellence from 2016 for the 4th quarter printed version
of SIU Today. I'm very proud of IASIU's Editorial Committee led
by Ellen Withers and Leslie Wagner and the contributions of Greg
Haag of IASIU's management company, Association Acumen. I'm
also thankful for the many writers of articles and contributors that
publish this quarterly publication for our association. Read it, learn
from it and take a short quiz at the end and receive credits that you
can use to recertify for IASIU Certifications.
I'm excited about IASIU 2017 coming September 10th - 13th in New
Orleans. With over 43 sessions and 80 presenters, all experts in
their field, insurance fraud investigators receive on-time education
to use in their jobs as they fight fraud. IASIU 2017 follows past
seminars in high attendance and value received by attendees.
Sponsors and exhibitors bring new technology and knowledge to
the vendor area to educate participants. If you have not registered
yet for the seminar, visit IASIU.org today. New Orleans provides
a large base of IASIU members the opportunity to travel by car or
short flights to the venue. International members will also attend,
though encountering much longer travel, yet still experience the
advanced education the event offers to all participants.

IASIU continues to be the largest organization of insurance fraud
investigators in the world. We continue to look for new members
and have several areas of the world interested in membership and
Chapters. Chapters, led by regional leaders, are the grass roots of
this association providing members the opportunity to discuss
and get involved in areas where they work and live. Legislative
initiatives often bubble up through Chapters. IASIU's Legislative
Committee, led by IASIU Director Brent Walker of Travelers,
works with industry partners to inform and move legislation that is
crucial to building a tough insurance fraud environment. Through
"Engage", an electronic tool shared with the Coalition Against
Insurance Fraud, members in affected areas are able to send a letter
to specific legislators to impact legislation in the United States.
I challenge you to educate yourself and add value to your investigative
skills through IASIU education and certifications. I challenge you
to get involved in IASIU. Invite a co-worker to join, run for Chapter
or International office or write an article for SIU Today. You never
know when your story pushes IASIU to another level of writing
excellence and a new award.
Thank you for your work fighting insurance fraud and thank you
for your membership in IASIU. I look forward to seeing many of
you in New Orleans for IASIU 2017.
