Cox, MODS: Another ditto to that! It is also
important to note that MODS and COSI now share
this distinction with hundreds of other institutions-
ranging from very small to very large. All the work
this field does is worth recognizing. It is about scale,
and I know many of the children's museums out there
play such a major role in their community.
Prior to this honor, we were recognized with a
Bank of America Neighborhood Builders Grant.
What is so fantastic about that program is the
previous winners serve on the panel, which meant
we had existing partnerships with so many different
organizations. We love to partner because we are
a cultural institution. This recognition was shared
with so many.
ACM: Among those sharing in this honor is the
professional staff at your institutions. What does
this mean for your teams?
Bertley, COSI: Like so many, the pandemic
impacted staffing levels. Building teams while
building team morale is still very much at
the forefront of what we do. This recognition
did something that nothing else has done-it
filled the whole team with a shared feeling of
accomplishment, worth, and validation. I am so
proud to be a COSI team member. This honor raises
the COSI brand and recognizes the meaningful
impact of our team.
