After all, this charming, sun-soaked town is nestled between two beautiful lakes: Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake. And, it was named Top 10 Places to visit in 2012 according to Facebook users! With its location right in the heart of wine country, it’s no surprise Penticton is also getting a reputation for offering a great culinary experience with a range of perfectly paired food and wine offerings. Even with these sophisticated wine country amenities, this vibrant and friendly city has also held onto its small town charm. Families can enjoy the beautiful lakes and beaches (voted some of the best in Canada by TripAdvisor!). A kayaking trip on Okanagan Lake or Skaha Lake is one of the most unique and relaxing ways to celebrate Penticton’s unique natural surroundings. Start your Saturday at the Penticton Farmers’ Market and Downtown Community Market, which run from May to October. Enjoy a local coffee and pastry while strolling from vendor to vendor. Then head to the iconic Book Shop to pick through stacks of books. At lunch time, stop at Il Vecchio’s to pick up a sandwich and take it to the extinct volcano on Munson Mountain (stopping at wineries along the way) and enjoy a picnic lunch overlooking the city.
