The use depends on your structure, cost of operating,
type of practice, etc. But many practices would
benefit from having an EO even when owning an IO.
Do Invisalign/prostho with IO and just use EO for
the rest.
The main issue is marketing, I guess. The companies
doing IO have zero interest in selling you EO
because of the massive price gap. IO are not only
more expensive but usually continue to make money
after having been sold and have a shorter lifespan. n

Is the latest Shining the Aoralscan 3? I tested it for
one week against the Medit and agree that for ortho
it scans much easier. The whole thing about high
FPS is overblown. It's like a guy driving a Ferrari but
keeps making the wrong turns, versus a guy driving
a Honda but knows where he's going. Who's going to
get there faster? n

Thanks for the information on the current
scanners. Scanning and 3D printing has completely
changed how I work. No regrets about making the
change. I have had the Carestream 3600 for about
5 years. They replaced it once under warranty. Otherwise,
it's been a good unit. No complaints. I use a
Formlabs printer. n

I have owned and used iTero, Trios, Medit i700,
and the Shining 3D (same as Intelliscan). I honestly
have had by far the best experiences getting the
best scans with the Shining. My staff really dislikes
scanning with anything other than the Shining.
Fastest scans and stitch the best. I have been very
surprised, but the Shining really shines. Their new
online access to scans, which is similar to iTero's,
is great. n
