Students majoring in engineering and computer science who lived in a learning community and students in those same majors who did not are compared on issues related to student learning, success, and persistence. The final two articles in this regular issue have operations as their common theme. Cynthia Balogh, Kasey Price, James Day, and Rita Moser report results of the most recent administration of their assessment in “ACUHO-I Construction and Renovation Data: The Latest Trends in Housing Construction and Renovation.” This survey data provides updated information from senior housing officers on renovation and construction that will be of interest to those engaged in planning for new projects. Our final article in this issue reports on technology and the changes in this dynamic area of housing as demonstrated through presentations at ResNet symposia over 11 years: “A Perspective on Residential Computer Networks: An Analysis of ResNet Symposium Presentations, 19952006” by Kevin Guidry, Carol Anderer, David Futey, and Clifton Pee. Researching an area about which little is written, this article offers an interesting perspective on challenges faced by technology professionals to meet the demands of a rapidly changing industry. As we continue to change to meet the needs of housing professionals throughout the world, our Journal’s next step relates to changes in the editor position. Congratulations to Von Stange, assistant vice president and director of housing and dining at the University of Iowa, who has been selected as editor for the next three-year term!
