For more information, visit www.cort.com/. breakin gs UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-GREEN BAY Green Bay, Wisconsin Projected Opening: August 2010 • Cost: $8 million The three-story, 51,000-square-foot residence hall will be built and owned by University Village Housing Inc., which is true for all the residence halls at the university. It will provide 32 suite-style units for 126 students. This puts the total number of students housed in the 27 campus facilities at 2,000, nearing the university’s goal of housing 40 percent of the population. The demand is great; this semester, there are over 200 students on the waiting list. The building will exceed by more than 30 percent state building code guidelines for energy efﬁciency. Responding to student requests, the new residence hall will be near other housing units, the University Union, and other academic buildings. PITTSBURG STATE UNIVERSITY Pittsburg, Kansas Projected Opening: August 2010 • Cost: $10 million This project, built by HTK Architects, will consist of ﬁve buildings connected by a courtyard. The main building will be a clubhouse, including a commons, a front ofﬁce, a study room, a full kitchen, and an activity room. The other four halls will be identical three-story buildings, housing 205 students each. Each apartment-style room will include three to four single bedrooms, a kitchenette, a living room, and a bathroom with two sinks. UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-MILWAUKEE THE TRIAD GROUP/ TJAC DEVELOPMENT is based in Boston, Massachusetts. Milwaukee, Wisconsin Projected Opening: September 2010 • Cost: $50.5 million Cambridge Commons, constructed by HGA Architects, will house 700 students in both suite-style rooms, which include two double rooms and a bathroom, and apartmentstyle rooms, which include a kitchen and a living room. Unique features include a dining hall, ﬁreplace lounge, two media rooms equipped with computers and printing stations, and two soundproof music practice rooms with recording capabilities. There is also a coffee shop which seats 35 people and features a performance area. Cambridge Commons earned LEED Gold certiﬁcation with amenities like a rooftop solar power electric system and a garage with a power supply for electric cars. This is the ﬁrst residence hall in Wisconsin to reach the LEED Gold level. AUSTIN PEAY STATE UNIVERSITY CLOSETCUBE is based in New City, New York. They manufacture a portable closet storage system (Closet on Wheels Storage System or COWSs) and then offer transportation services for the closet from home to campus and then back home again. Clarksville, Tennessee Projected Opening: August 2011 • Cost: $25.5 million The new residence hall, constructed by Rentenbach, will house 416 students in double rooms with full bathrooms. The building will be ﬁve stories high and 150,000 square feet. Features of the hall include student lounges, meeting rooms, a convenience store, and a coffee bar. By popular demand, it is expected to be named Castle Heights, after the neighborhood in which it is built.
