challenged individuals and
older people in their daily lives;
and to motivate students and

Canada-made fuel cells
to power Moscow buses
VANCOUVER - LOOP
Energy of Vancouver has partnered
with METTEM-M Ltd.
of Russia to provide hydrogen-electric
powertrains for
commercial vehicles.
The companies' first joint
project is a transit bus for GAZ
Group of Russia. An example
was on display at the recent
International Commercial
Vehicle Show in Moscow.
The 12-metre-long bus is
expected to go into service in
Moscow in 2022.
METTEM-M, which develops
and integrates vehicle-control
systems, will use Loop's
GAZ Group of Russia will use its existing
electric-bus platform to incorporate Loop
Energy's hydrogen fuel cells.

Canadian battery
recycler expands
TORONTO -
Li-Cycle Holdings
Corp. of Toronto said
it plans to build a new
North American commercial
lithium-ion
battery recycling facility
in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Li-Cycle has operational
recycling plants
in Kingston, Ont., and
Rochester, N.Y., with a
third in Gilbert, Ariz.,
nearing completion.
With battery and
electric-vehicle makers
establishing operations
in the southeastern
United States,
Li-Cycle said the
region is becoming
critical in the lithium-ion
battery supply
chain, leading to significant
quantities of
battery-manufacturing
scrap and end-of-life
batteries to recycle.
Li-Cycle is partnering
with Univar
Solutions as its anchor
battery-feed supply
customer for the
Alabama plant; it will
have an initial capacity
of up to 5,000 tonnes
a year, bringing
Li-Cycle's total annual
North American recycling
capacity to 25,000
