Plastic Pipes 2020
Conference Goes to The
Netherlands
The Plastic Pipes Conference Association
(PPCA) announced that Amsterdam, The
Netherlands, is the location for the next
conference and exhibition, Plastic Pipes XX,
Sept. 21-23, 2020.
In addition to PPXX, two spin-off events
will be held during 2019: one in Guangzhou, China, Sept. 23-24; and another in
Sydney, Australia, Nov. 7-8. A selection
of PPXIX papers will be presented at each
spinoff conference in combination with
new papers coming specifically from each
of those regions.
"More than 400 delegates from 40 countries attended PPXIX in Las Vegas this past
September to review 93 technical papers,
network at the global level and connect
with the 33 exhibiting companies," explained
Sarah Patterson, technical director of PPI
and chair of the PPXIX Organizing Committee. "Presentations were of high quality
and the forum provided a genuine technical
transfer of knowledge and experience from
the entire global manufacturing industry."
Chair of the PPXX Organizing Committee
is Zoran Davidovski, vice president of marketing & innovation at Pipelife International.
"Since the Dutch are world-renowned
masters in water management, collection
and recycling schemes, Amsterdam is the
perfect choice for PPXX," said Davidovski.
"Many of the municipal drainage, sewer and
water utilities use plastic pipe systems.
"Also, of interest is that Amsterdam and
much of The Netherlands is below sea level.
Since the 17th century, the city forefathers
have constructed canals to provide transport and drainage. It is a wonder location to
enjoy, take in the sights and network in the
plastic pipe industry," he added.
Alternating between the United States
and Europe every even numbered year, the
three-day Plastic Pipes Conference and
Exhibition is the largest event of its kind. Key
subjects to be covered at PPXX include the

introduction of new technologies, sustainability, standards, manufacturing equipment,
technical aspects related to materials, along
with the design and development, testing,
installation and operation of plastic pipe
systems.
The event is hosted by PPCA members:
PE 100+ Association, Plastics Pipe Institute
Inc. (PPI) and The European Plastic Pipes
and Fittings Association (TEPPFA).

AUCSC 2019 Offers
Underground Corrosion
Training
The 64rd annual Appalachian Underground
Corrosion Short Course (AUCSC 2019)
will take place May 7-9, 2019 in Morgantown, W.V.
AUCSC provides both technical and
nontechnical presentation of the practical
and theoretical aspects of the causes and
prevention of corrosion on underground
structures. Specific topics include instrumentation, corrosion surveys, cathodic
protection, pipe coatings and miscellaneous
methods of corrosion control.
Designed for personnel whose work
requires a practical knowledge of underground metallic corrosion, the course
covers both elementary and advanced
treatment of corrosion control subjects.
AUCSC, a 501C3, non-profit educational
association, offers more than 100 hours of
basic, intermediate, and advanced training.
Licensed professional engineers (P.E.s)
may earn professional development hours
(PDHs) for attending AUCSC by submitting
proof of their completion to the state's
engineering licensing board.
A NACE Technician Review Course is
also offered, and AUCSC course hours may
be applied towards NACE recertification
