In Memoriam
Bill Cooper
Bill Cooper, founder and CEO of Spectronics
Corporation passed on May 9, 2017. He leaves
behind the sum of his insight and aspiration. Bill and
his brother, Morris Cooper, founded Spectronics
Corporation in 1955. The two brothers saw the
promise of ultraviolet technology and its many
applications - the breadth of which began with
detecting fluid leaks in automobiles.

Mary Virginia "Kim" Gartman
Mary Virginia "Kim" Gartman, 56, passed away at home
April 21, 2017 in Royse City after fighting cancer for nearly
a year.
Kim was born June 6, 1960 to James W. Copeland and
Mary A. Williams in Dallas, TX. Kim greatly enjoyed working
at the Defense Contract Audit Agency for 30 years. She
loved to host family gatherings and enjoyed traveling to new
places. Kim also adored animals.
Kim is survived by her husband Arnie Gartman; mother;
Mary Fite; brothers; Rick Copeland and wife Janet, Rad Copeland and wife
Lavonne, Mark Copeland (Sandra Miller), and Brent Copeland; sisters; Kay
Copeland and Ramona Morales; numerous nieces and nephews and many
other loving relatives and friends. Kim is preceded in death by her dad James
Copeland and her step-father H.T. "Buddy" Fite. In lieu of flowers, donations can
be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society and/or the SPCA.

Arthur "Butch" Smith, Jr.
Arthur (Butch) Edward Smith, Jr. was
born in Anniston, Alabama, on February
27, 1949 and passed away on April 24,
2017. He is preceded in death by his
mother, Janie Roberts, and his father
Arthur Edward Smith, Sr.
Butch is survived by his wife Sharon
Painter Smith; daughter, Kim Ramirez
and husband Gabriel; grandson, Kyle
Edward Ramirez; sister, Donna Thorpe; brother, Roger
Smith; aunt, Dorothy Smith; sister-in-law, Sandra Smith and
husband Jim; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and
friends who loved him dearly.
Butch started in the Automotive A/C Industry in 1965.
While working full time, and picking up any overtime he
could, he started attending night school where he earned
his Associate Degree in Business in just two years. He was
well known and respected throughout the whole industry. He
worked from the bottom up, and was made Vice President of
Sales in 1982.
Special Achievements: He served on the Mobile Air
Conditioning Society-Board of Directors for 20 years, holding
the offices of Secretary, Vice Chairman and Chairman. This
year he was made an Honorary Lifetime Member.
