Central Carolina HEALTH - Spring 2012 - (Page 2)

FROM THE CEO Resolutions Renewed This Spring he start of a new year brings on the excitement of resolutions— resolutions to put yourself first. But as the months pass, everyday work and family priorities can overshadow promises you’ve made to yourself and your health. But regardless of the time of year, you can take steps to improve your health. How about renewing your healthy resolutions now? It’s important for all of us to make time for our health, especially since we Carolinians live in the “stroke belt,” an area that has been recognized by public health authorities for having an unusually high incidence of stroke. Our region also has a high rate of heart disease, diabetes and cancer. You don’t have to be a doctor to know that the earlier these issues are addressed, the better chance at reducing your risk. That’s why you’ll see many of our programs at CCH are geared toward these diseases. Each month, we offer educational programs, classes and workshops on a variety of topics, including wellness, nutrition, disease management, smoking cessation, CPR and more. We also offer free lipid screenings on a quarterly basis so you can monitor your cholesterol and glucose levels. To achieve a state of well-being, you also need to have a primary care provider who can help you set goals, develop healthy habits and monitor ongoing issues. That’s why Central Carolina Hospital created the CCH Primary Care Network of more than 30 family practice, internal medicine and pediatric physicians in our service area who are accessible for same-day or next-day appointments. All you have to do is call one toll-free number: 877-892-2660. Get control of your health now, and take advantage of our programs. We are committed to our community, and we are determined to be your hospital. Sincerely, T Doug Doris, CEO Central Carolina Hospital HEALTH GOALS Strive for these numbers: ◗ ◗ ◗ ◗ Waist Circumference: 35 inches or less Blood Pressure: 120/80 or less Fasting Glucose: 100 mg/dL or less Cholesterol: LDL: 100 mg/dL or less HDL: 50 mg/dL or greater Triglycerides: 150 mg/dL or less 2 | SPRING 2012
