Walkability. That's what sets the
Orange County Convention Center
(OCCC), located only 11 miles from
Orlando International Airport. The OCCC
- which boasts 2.1 million square feet of
exhibit space and is connected to area
hotels with a system of five pedestrian
bridges - is within walking distance to
hundreds of nearby guest rooms, worldclass restaurants and attractions. And now,
three magical words could elevate the
OCCC into an even bigger industry
heavyweight: Campus Master Plan.
Proposed in June 2017, the Campus
Master Plan will vastly improve the
OCCC's North and South concourses by
adding more meeting space for clients
looking to deliver a top-notch event. Two,
all-new projects were proposed after yearSpecial Adver tis eme n t Se c t ion

long conversations with clients and after
working with internationally renowned
consultant, Populous, Inc.
"We know clients have their pick
when it comes to where they want to host
their events," says Carla Bell Johnson, the
OCCC's director of strategic planning.
"Working with our clients to best
determine their needs and wants will
help us create a convention center for
their future events and gives us an
advantage when working with potential
customers."
The proposed Convention Way Grand
Concourse is an enclosed connection
between the North and South concourses
that includes additional meeting and ballroom space, and would provide a new
grand entry to the North/South Building
along Convention Way.
The new multipurpose venue would
add a 200,000-square-foot, flexible, divisible, column-free space with a combination of retractable and floor seating to
accommodate between 18,000 and
20,000 guests. If approved, this project
will also incorporate additional meeting
space and connectivity between the North
and South concourses.

n	Dynamic lighting possibilities are

being unveiled around the OCCC
campus. New lighting options
for the Convention Center's
iconic clam shells will soon join
up-lighting in front of the Central
Lobby at the West Concourse.
All locations offer clients a new
way to visually brand or promote
their event to our neighbors on
International Drive.

n	The second Skybridge added to

the Hyatt Regency is the fifth
pedestrian bridge connecting
the OCCC to nearby hotels.
The bridge spans International
Drive from the third floor of
Hall C of the West Concourse
to the breathtaking Hyatt
Regency Orlando.

n	The OCCC recently debuted the

Center-to-Table Vision Gardens.
The largest aeroponic garden in
a public venue in the country, it
produces 40,000 plants a year
for groups that want to focus their
menus around locally sourced,
environmentally friendly, farm
fresh eats.
