Antenova Announces Beltii, a Miniature Embedded Antenna for Small PCBs in GNSS Devices
Antenova Ltd has released Beltii, (P/N SR4G013), an embedded antenna that measures 15.6 mm by 3.3 mm by 4.4 mm, and operates
with all global public satellite constellations. The antenna has been
designed to work over a very small ground plane on a small PCB,
where it can be placed in a corner position, and does not need any
ground clearance.
Beltii works with all of the world's public satellite constellations: GPS,
GLONASS, BEIDOU and GALLILEO, and can add a positioning capability to any small, lightweight device. It is suitable for wearable electronics, trackers, drones, navigation
devices and sports applications.
It is the latest in Antenova's lamiiANT range of antennas, which are manufactured from FR4 materials
and use the latest in dielectric constant laminate substrates to construct smaller, more efficient antennas.
Commenting, Antenova's CEO, Colin Newman says, "Beltii is a brand new design using new materials. It
beats the typical larger, ceramic patch antennas on all counts: it is smaller, more efficient and performs
better. It is a great addition to our range of positioning antennas."
As the performance of a wireless device depends upon the performance of its antenna, and the performance of the antenna depends upon how it is integrated into the PCB, Antenova's antenna designers give
the integration requirement top priority and design each antenna so that it can be integrated easily, and to
perform well in situ within the device. Antenova calls this concept DFI, or Design For Integration.
Covert Protection from Alaris Antennas
The OMNI-A0082 is a covert, ultra-wideband antenna system designed for
high-powered transmissions where signal suppression is required in applications like convoy protection, RCIED signals and VIP protection.
It provides four separate antenna connections. Band A covers 20 to 200
MHz, band B covers 100 to 700 MHz, band C is a high-efficiency, wideband
500 to 3,000 MHz antenna and band D covers 850 to 6,000 MHz. The
overlap in frequency ranges allows this antenna system to be used with a
wide range of transmitters and signal suppression hardware. The OMNIA0082 has an excellent omni-directional radiation pattern which provides
360° protection, and covers a 300:1 frequency range without significant
elevation break-up. This ensures that maximum protection is available at
all frequencies. The low visual profile avoids drawing attention to the vehicle on which it is fitted.
Stay Connected with the Engager Directional LPDA Antenna Series
Taoglas has launched the Engager Logarithmic Periodic Dipole Antenna
(LPDA) series. This wide-band directional antenna series offers high
gain at multiple frequencies, including all cellular 2G/3G and 4G LTE
bands globally, for all carriers and networks.
High gain directional antennas are used for point-to-point applications
and also used for devices at remote sites or areas of low signal strength.
In these areas of low signal strength, traditionally many installers have
helped the device get connectivity by changing the internal or cabled
antenna to a high gain directional antenna that is mounted on the outside of the building on a pole or wall. The installer would ascertain the
location of the cellular base station and point the antenna directly towards it. The higher gain can help get
connectivity when a standard Omni directional antenna that is on the device would not.
Dermot O'Shea, Taoglas Joint CEO, said, "these Engager's eliminate the need for Yagi's. The Yagi's are also
directional and high gain but are limited to a narrow bandwidth or single frequency. That means if you
installed an antenna for a base station belonging to a certain carrier at a certain time, that frequency or
