Osborne to Lead dck pacific's Hawaii Office
dck worldwide, the parent
company of dck pacific construction
LLC, has announced that Kelvin
Osborne, vice president of operations,
will take over the leadership role of
its Honolulu office.
The move is part of the company's
restructuring that includes the departure

of three Hawaii managers, including
Eric Tessem, senior vice president and
general manager of dck pacific.
"These management changes will
not impact our clients or our teams at
our job sites," said Stephen D'Angelo,
president and CEO of dck worldwide.
"As part of our continuing effort to
refine our business model and how we
do business in the markets we serve,
dck worldwide has been implementing
a companywide realignment to ensure
the structure of our organization
is consistent with our long-term
strategy," D'Angelo added.
"While locally, this re-focused
approach involves the elimination
of three management positions,
our more than 250 employees in
Hawaii, under the leadership of
Kelvin Osborne, vice president
of operations, are committed to
continuing to provide high-quality
work and service for our clients and
the community."
Also, Maude Omai is retiring in
December as the firm's marketing
manager.
dck pacific, which has been doing
business in Hawaii for 75 years,
ranked third among Building Industry
Hawaii's 2014 Top 25 Contractors.
The company reported $232 million in
2013 earnings.
Current and recent projects for the
company include the new Hawaiian
Airlines facility, the Kings Land by
Hilton Grand Vacations Club on the Big
Island, the International Market Place in
Waikiki, the Target store in Kailua, the
Honolulu Seawater Air Conditioning
project, the Walgreens store in Honolulu
and the Kapiolani Medical Center for
Women and Children.
dck pacific's work on the Unersity of
Hawaii Information Technology Center
earned the 2014 Build Hawaii Grand
Award from the General Contractors
Association (GCA) of Hawaii.
Tessem founded Construction
Associates Inc. in 1981. In 2003 he was
named vice president of operations for
Ledcor Construction before joining dck
pacific in 2011.
Designer Built Systems Completes Kolo Village
Contractor Designer Built Systems,
Inc. recently completed $6.6 million
in renovations on Kamehameha
Schools' Kolo Village in Moiliili.
Using plans and designs by Hawaii
Architecture, Designer Built Systems
rehabilitated six severely deteriorating
buildings in March.
The 69 units at Kolo Village
increases the total of refurbished
rental units in the university neighborhood to 142. Upgrades to the
kauhale-the traditional term for
a cluster of homes-include on-site
laundry facilities, privacy fencing,
enhanced lighting designs, living walls,
pet-friendly stations and communal
barbecue and lounge areas with
outdoor furniture.
"We hope these renovations will
enhance this university neighborhood
and create a sense of safety and
community, and a place people are
attracted to," said Cathy Camp, area
development director for Kamehameha
Schools. "Starting at $1,200, rent prices

median income per the federal affordability guidelines, which we believe
might attract more young professionals,
university constituents and others
wishing to live near the university."
Since 2010, Kamehameha Schools
has renovated three similar buildings
in the area since 2010: the Rainbow
Vista, Kolo Place (phase I) and Malu
Lani, formerly the Kirin Apartments.
Prudential Locations is handling
leasing at Kolo Village for
Kamehameha Schools.
