Exhibitors Are Ready to 'Reconnect
and Re-Engage' at ATS 2022
" RECONNECT AND RE-ENGAGE " IS THE
guiding theme for organizers of the Exhibit
Hall at the ATS 2022 International Conference,
and exhibitors are eager to do just that
as they showcase their latest
developments in respiratory
science, patient care, and
global public health.
ATS 2022, to
take place in San
Francisco, will
be the first time
many of the
exhibitors can
offer attendees a
first hand look at
technology that has
been developed or
improved upon since
the COVID-19 pandemic
began. They'll also be able
to discuss in person the latest
advances in pharmaceutical treatments.
" Attendees will be able to put their hands on
equipment, to play with the equipment, touch
the equipment, as well as learn important
information such as indications that may have
changed as far as the prescription drugs go, "
said Stacy McManus, ATS senior director of
strategic business initiatives.
" A lot of the exhibitors haven't even been able
to get into doctors' offices or hospitals for the
last three years, " Ms. McManus added, noting
that many of them will likely have COVID-19related
products that have come on the market
in recent months.
Located inside the Moscone Center, the
Exhibit Hall will feature more than 200 exhibitors
as well as areas and programs specifically
designed to allow attendees to network, kick
back, and have fun from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. PT
daily, Sunday to Tuesday, May 15-17.
Exhibitors will include prominent companies
from years past, including such pharmaceutical
and biotechnology giants as Boehringer
Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, AstraZeneca,
GlaxoSmithKline, Medtronic, Merck, Regeneron,
and United Therapeutics.
In addition to exhibitor booths, attendees can
participate in Industry Theaters, which will stage
33 programs over the course of ATS 2022. Ranging
in size from mini (up to 50 attendees) to medium
(up to 125 attendees) and large (up to 250
attendees), the Industry Theaters offer opportunities
to hear about brand launches and current
therapies, as well as discuss current pipeline
activity and participate in focused programs on
disease awareness over lunch.
The Guru Bars are " burst
sessions " of 20-30 minutes
led by industry representatives
who will outline
intriguing discussion
topics and offer their
perspectives and
solutions before
posing challenging
questions to foster
peer-to-peer discussions.
The four Guru
Bars are set to stage up
to 36 programs over the
five-day conference.
Featured Industry
Events listings are available
on the ATS Conference News website,
ATSConferenceNews.org.
Attendees can take a break from learning
by visiting areas in the Exhibit Hall specifically
designed for fun and relaxation. The Coffee &
Connection Booths will offer a spot to sit down
and talk with friends and colleagues while
enjoying a caffeine kick. The Fun Zone will make
its debut. It will feature a basketball shootout,
air hockey, foosball, and game tables with chess,
checkers, decks of cards, and board games.
The Exhibit Hall will also feature a professional
photo booth for attendees to have
complimentary headshots taken.
CLINICAL TRIAL AWARENESS BOOTHS
Clinical Trial Awareness Booths, located in the
South Lobby Level of the Moscone Center, outside
the Exhibit Hall, offer yet another way to
learn about the latest scientific advances and
breakthroughs.
Exhibitors in the clinical trials space talk
about the trials that they are doing, and in
some instances, recruit physicians to participate
in their clinical trials. They also seek
feedback from doctors and researchers.
" A lot of attendees go there first to see
what's up and coming, what the newest science
is out there, " Ms. McManus said. " The
companies will change every year, based on
where they are in their trial process. "

Step Up for the
Wellness Challenge
D
on't forget to pack your walking
and running shoes for the ATS
2022 International Conference. The
Wellness Challenge is making a return.
Formerly known as the Walking Challenge, the
program now includes a meditation aspect.
The Wellness Challenge is designed to
promote healthfulness through exercise while
stirring the competitive juices of participants
by challenging them to take 30,000 steps
throughout the six-day conference.
The top three steppers, as well as three
randomly selected participants who exceed
the 30,000-step goal, will be awarded prizes.
Viatris, the sponsor of the challenge, will
donate $100 for each participant who reaches
that goal, up to $50,000. Funds will go toward
the ATS Research Program.
The 30,000-step goal was easily reached
during the last challenge three years ago, noted
ATS Associate Director of Sponsorships and
Programs Fiona Zheng.
" They're a very competitive bunch, so we do
get a lot of participation, " Ms. Zheng said, adding
that many of the 1,800 participants in 2019
accumulated steps by running through the
host city each day before and after conference
activities.
To get an idea of the level of competitiveness
involved, she said, the top five participants
that year accumulated more than
300,000 steps each during the conference, with
the winner walking and running 327,691 steps.
" There was a total of more than 36 million
steps generated by all participants, and the
fun fact about that is it's equal to the air distance
from New York City to Sydney, Australia
- round trip! " said Ms. Zheng. " It averaged out
to more than 20,000 steps per participant. "
Leaderboards, located in the Wellness
Challenge booth in the South Lobby of the
Moscone Center, will track this year's top
steppers.
Meditation will be a new part of the Wellness
Challenge, and not only will it help participants
learn tools for relaxation during these
hectic times in health care, but it can earn
bonus steps for participants if they listen to
a short meditation audio clip on the Wellness
Challenge app.
" We know that burnout is real, especially
for our health care workers right now, so we
wanted to add something to help them catch
a breather among their busy days - to kind of
let other things go and just rest for a while, "
Ms. Zheng said.
ATS 2022 attendees can register for the
Wellness Challenge by visiting the ATS
Wellness Challenge Booth and downloading
an app that will track their steps on their
smartphone. They can also earn a daily step
booster by visiting the Viatris booth in the
Exhibit Hall.
