Wedding Dreams Come True at Orlando’s Disney Venue If you want to set up an unforgettable wedding experience laced with fantasy amidst a fairy tale venue where dreams really can come true, steer your wedding clients to the masters of fantasy and fairy tale fun when tying the knot— Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. The 20-year-old company has a team of wedding planners that set up more than 1,000 weddings per year between Disney World, Disney Cruise Line and Disneyland, with most of those weddings occurring coming out of the Florida park and the Disney Cruise Line in Florida. The planners offer couples what Korri McFann, weddings and honeymoons marketing director, calls, “… one-stop shopping for them and what it breaks down to is we handle everything, every little detail.… Every element of a wedding—whether it’s the location, the beautiful ceremony, reception location, we do beverage, we take care of photography, geography, linens, table service linens, flowers, entertainment—we have everything right here at the Walt Disney World Resort for our couples to take advantage of and I think that’s been a great differentiator for us over the last 20 years.” And it certainly seems to be the case since industry averages for guest counts runs around 60 in the overall wedding party, head counts for Disney weddings run in the 60s and 70s, attesting to the popularity of a Disney World venue for that special day. Those numbers, in fact, should make savvy travel agents lick their lips because there’s a lot of commissionable product out on the table at a Disney wedding. “At that size, couples can get overwhelmed trying to manage the travel portion and that’s really important and where travel agents can help them tremendously. Travel agents can also help them by quoting a group booking if they so choose,” McFann says. “They can help them plan the destination portion and they can also help them plan the honeymoon. The honeymoon is customized completely and certainly—depending on what passengers are traveling with them—that’s all commissionable product on the honeymoon.” In terms of the average cost of a Disney wedding itself, McFann says, “You know that’s pretty tough to say, but just off the top of my head, taking care of everything—I’d say it averages in the $20,000 range.” Still she insists, “We really do have something for everyone. Our wedding collections start as low as $2,000 and go up from there. Disney Cruise Line weddings are also very reasonable—they start at about the $2,500 range. It goes up from there, as well.” As McFann points out, there are varied pricing categories with the Escape category falling into that $2,000 base pricing category and aimed primarily at smaller 76 WALT DISNEY WORLD WEDDINGS 2012 Official VISIT FLORIDA Specialist Program: Destination Weddings & Honeymoons
