CTE’S Role in
Urban Education

Urban Ag Programs on the Rise

The Agricultural Education
Three-circle Model has three
components: classroom instruction,
leadership education and hands-on
experience. This article reveals how
three urban schools in Indianapolis
are using this model to help students
deemed “at risk” achieve academically.

CTE programs engage urban
students by connecting education
and careers, thus fulfilling a unique
and positive role in today’s urban
education system.

Credentials—One Tool
for Retaining Students

Two leading reasons why students drop out
of school are lack of interest and lack of
educational support. At VBCPS, they combat
the dropout rate by employing several
effective strategies of successful CTE, most
notably obtaining an industry credential.
