Rich and Associates has been selected by City of Timmins, Ontario, to develop a comprehensive parking downtown parking plan that will support local businesses and transportation services. Because this will be Timmins’ first comprehensive downtown parking plan, Rich and Associates will begin by developing a comprehensive parking demand model to determine current and future parking needs. Development of the plan itself will be built around meeting that need, and providing a framework for effective and efficient parking management. The plan will also identify best practice goals and prepare the city for future capital investments in parking and transportation. PARKEON and SKIDATA intend to form a strategic alliance. SKIDATA, the specialist in off-street parking (parking facility management for gated parking areas), and PARKEON, the expert for on-street parking systems, see a high potential of possible benefits for their respective customers by providing an enhanced service offering and leveraging on both infrastructures. The foreseen strategic alliance between PARKEON and SKIDATA will offer clients the ability to combine data from both areas of the parking business—on-street and off-street—using a single parking back-office to better manage their operations. This provides groundbreaking possibilities for parking facility operators to increase the efficiency of their operations and improve services for people on the move. Business and e-payment services, supplied with data from PARKEON and SKIDATA systems, allow operators to manage innovative solutions such as dynamic pricing (where pricing changes in response to particular events such as extreme weather conditions or levels of CO2 emissions), multiple payment means and parking guidance systems. Greenscape Capital Group Inc. announces that its wholly owned subsidiary, Green.Switch Capital has secured the total debt financing required for the development of its Denver Green Park DIA project. The debt component of the project was arranged by RBC Capital Markets Real Estate Group. The debt facility consists of an $8.5 million construction loan with a 36-month term; the debt will be used for the development of Green Park DIA, the world’s greenest parking facility. Construction is targeted to start on the fully permitted, shovel-ready, Green Park DIA project in Spring 2010 with an estimated term to complete construction of seven months. Total construction costs to build Green Park DIA are approximately $17 million via a fixed, maximum price construction contract. Walker Parking Consultants completed parking garage projects in 2009 with a construction value exceeding $1 billion. More than 50,000 spaces were delivered at an average per space cost of $20,000. The projects ranged in size from 250 spaces for a hospital to a multimodal facility with over 10,000 spaces. After a thorough analysis of various valet automation and self-parking management systems, the Hilton Austin selected Service Tracking Systems and Federal APD to handle their parking needs. The integrated solution combines the CVPS valet system with Federal APD’s self‐parking system ScanNet in a clean, user friendly layout offering maximum flexibility to the operator and maximum convenience for the guests.
