Hennessy, chairman-elect, David D. Kennedy, Raymond F. Messer, Gregs G. Thomopulos and Frank Rudd. n The Board of Directors approved ACEC’s new three-year budget to maintain the Council’s strength. The Board also discussed “drilling down deeper” into ACEC’s membership base so that Council programs and services can be n shared by a broader range of members. The Board also heard from Colorado University Professor Hyman Brown on the ongoing ACEC-sponsored research on Qualifications-Based Selection (QBS), which Brown’s team is conducting. n “Citizen lobbyists” conducted more than 250 visits to Congressional offices to support important ACEC legislative initiatives. n Convention-goers also took part in innovative business education sessions, important visits to Congressional offices and the 41st Annual Engineering Excellence Awards Gala hosted by Emmy Award-winner Ross Shafer. n MWH was awarded the Grand Conceptor Award, signifying the year’s best engineering achievement, for The Montgomery Point Lock and Dam. A record 180 projects also were honored at the Engineering Excellence Awards Gala. n Vivek Wadhwa of Duke University and Lance Davis of the National Academy of Engineering led a Town Hall discussion on the engineer shortage.
