Education with
a Musical Interlude
I
n June, Music City played host to the financial services community as leaders from institutions across the
country gathered at Vanderbilt University for BISA's
innaugural CEO Retreat, an exclusive new education program.
Over three days, BISA members absorbed valuable educational content, interacted with industry peers and learned
from faculty of the Vanderbilt Executive Development Institute at the Owen Graduate School of Management.
"Leading Change" was a central theme of the retreat. Top
Vanderbilt faculty directed interactive sessions that allowed
attendees to exchange intelligence on topics such as change

management, talent recruitment and regulatory transformation.
Professor Richard Daft, for example, led a program focused on
practical strategies for embracing change and driving results.
Professor Cherrie Clark led a session on how to engage millennials and leverage their talents in the workplace.
Learning and networking came complete with musical accompaniment. Attendees visited the Country Music Hall of
Fame and received an exclusive tour of the Ryman Auditorium, home of the original Grand Ole Opry, where local
singer-songwriters performed and discussed their art over an
exclusive on-stage reception.
BISA is exploring university venues for its 2017 CEO Retreat.
