hd americas preview conference highlights HD Americas conference sessions will cover a wide variety of design issues in Latin America and the Caribbean, discussed by a stellar array of industry luminaries, including Gulla Jonsdottir, Paul Duesing, Will Meyer, Malcolm Berg, Mitch Parker, Meg Sharpe, and many more. Among the panels is a look at the rich array of current and upcoming projects in Miami, a prime U.S. gateway to the Americas; and one that explores the rewards and challenges U.S.-based designers are finding as they work their magic in Nicaragua, Cabo San Lucas, Panama, and other alluring destinations. Here's a look at some of the properties that will be discussed from the masterminds behind them. Meyer Davis Will Meyer, of New York-based Meyer Davis Studio will reveal plans for the long-awaited 1 Hotel on Miami Beach's Collins Avenue, a 334-room property that is the first of several planned for the brand. The overall theme: a celebration of the glories of nature. Edge of Architecture Duesing Partners Edge of Architecture founder Malcolm Berg will discuss three of his recent Miami-area projects, including a new Ocean Drive boutique (right), as well as an oceanfront 105-key resort in Islamorada, Florida (below), due to open later this year. Mukul, on Nicaragua's Emerald Coast, is small (37 rooms), private, and elegant. Paul Duesing will guide attendees through the rewards and challenges of creating the country's first luxury resort in a spectacular oceanfront setting. 114 July 2014
