All 914 seats are less than 80 feet from the stage, creating an intimate setting suited perfectly for the natural, unampliﬁed sound of the performances. Outside the theater are the beautiful grounds of the Glimmerglass estate, a favorite picnic spot for theatergoers. Grab a sandwich at the concession stands, pre-order a gourmet picnic, or take advantage of the on-site food trucks featuring delicious, farm-to-table offerings from pizza to crêpes and Mexican cuisine. In addition to the mainstage productions, Glimmerglass also offers a wide variety of special events at the on-site pavilion, discussions with scholars and artists, and productions by members of the Young Artists Program. Held on the shore of the idyllic Otsego Lake in Central New York, this year's summer festival offers the best of 20thcentury opera throughout July and August. The 2015 season marks the Festival's 40th anniversary.
