And while this rugged, majestic countryside might seem everlasting, it requires careful preservation so generations to come can also enjoy it. The nonprofit Colorado Canyons Association fosters community stewardship of National Conservation Areas, including Dominguez-Escalante, Gunnison Gorge, and McInnis Canyons. The group focuses on education, outreach, conservation, and preservation projects, so that locals and visitors alike can appreciate the area's natural resources. The magnificent 20,000-acre red-rock backdrop to the Grand Valley, and the historic 23-mile Rim Rock Drive that runs through it, is a must-see attraction in western Colorado. Partnerships are critical to preserving the area's heritage, and Colorado National Monument works closely with its primary nonprofit partner, the Colorado National Monument Association (CNMA).
