Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Flies Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Flies are a group of paddlers and supporters who have come together to form a dragon boat team comprised of breast cancer survivors. They have gathered in support of each other and to show their spirit of overcoming cancer. The Dragon Flies are pleased to announce the 7th Annual Dragon Flies Dragon Boat Festival taking place June 18, 2011 at Palmer Park, Port Perry on Lake Scugog. Set in a festival environment, dragon boat teams compete against each other in exciting heats of four dragon boats. While not racing, the dragon boat crews and spectators enjoy festival entertainment, food and beverages. Festival partnership opportunities are available for local businesses and corporations. Through festival pledges, The Dragon Flies raise funds to support Breast Cancer awareness and wellness programs as well as providing funds for Breast Cancer diagnosis and treatment services at four local hospital: Ross Memorial in Lindsay, Lakeridge Health Port Perry, Uxbridge Cottage Hospital and the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre. Mark the date in your calendar and spread the word; the dragons are coming and you don’t want to miss being a part of this incredible event!
