Excerpt from the President’s Speech at the Annual Meeting

his is a season of transformation for our industry, filled with changes. For medical staff and credentialing services professionals, we are being challenged in what we do, how we do it and the resources we have. But, more importantly, this has provided us great opportunities. These challenges give us the chance to promote efficiencies and provide quality care. There is also opportunity to mitigate potential risks for patient safety and work with others who have similar interests.
NAMSS has already identified the 13 criteria needed for The Ideal Credentialing Solution. We already have data sources that track education, training and licensure. There is, however, a gap in data as it relates to a practitioner’s affiliations. Currently, there is not one universal resource that tracks this affiliation history. So, take a moment and imagine this with me: • You have electronic access to a national database of practitioner affiliations at your fingertips. • You have the ability to instantly download a letter of good standing for your practitioners. • Your access to this information is simple, fast, affordable and through NAMSS.
For several years, we’ve been solidifying our concept of The Ideal Credentialing Solution and what that means to the industry. It’s about best practices and what we can do to enhance patience safety.
