ne w p r o d uc t s Exposure Unit Wide-Format Inkjet Printer Vastex International (www.vastex.com) recently debuted the E-2000 Series of LED exposing units for screen printers. Roland DGA (www.rolanddga.com) bills its XF-640 as one of its most revolutionary large-format digital printers to date. It features dual eight-channel piezo inkjet heads with 180 nozzles/channel. According to Roland DGA, the printheads are offset to promote image quality and create a larger print swath that dramatically increases speed—up to 1098 sq ft/hr (102 sq m/hr). Roland DGA says the XF-640’s newly designed printhead produces smaller droplets and, by firing a finer dot, delivers rich, bold color and deep image saturation on a much broader range of media. The printer uses Roland’s Eco-Sol MAX 2, formulated to dry quickly and offer durability. It also features Roland’s Intelligent Pass Control technology to controls dot placement between passes. roland DgA Vastex international According to the company, a long-lasting LED pack delivers ultra-fast exposure times while producing high-resolution halftones and crisp detail on the most intricate graphics. The system comes standard with a vacuum holddown with a neoprene blanket, automatic digital controls, 0.25-in.-thick (6.3-mm) tempered glass, and 120- or 240-v power supply. E-2000 Series units are available in two sizes that accommodate maximum screen sizes (outside dimensions) of 23 x 31 in. (584 x 787 mm) and 47 x 31 in. (1194 x 787 mm). Both sizes are available mounted on Vastex’s Dri-Vault screen-drying cabinets. UV LED Curing Systems Phoseon’s (www.phoseon.com) FireJet FJ200 is a 12-W, air-cooled, UV-LED curing system that’s available in five standard sizes. According to the company, FJ200 units are scalable as-is, meaning they can be placed end-to-end. They offer 12 W/sq cm peak irradiance and use ambient air cooling, thereby eliminating the need for external cooling systems. Phoseon says FireJet products are suitable for singlepass digital, coatings, and wide-format-curing applications where high peak irradiance and fast curing of heat-sensitive substrates is vitally important. The company also notes that FireJet units deliver consistent energy density by using pure, stable, constant DC power. 6 screenprinting Flatbed UV Inkjet Printers Canon Solutions America (www.csa.canon.com) recently debuted four Océ Arizona 600 Series flatbed UV inkjet printers. CSA’s Océ Arizona 640 GT features four independent ink channels, CMYK printing, and standard table size; the Océ Arizona 640 XT features four independent ink channels, CMYK printing, and large-format table size; the Océ Arizona 660 GT features six independent ink channels, multiple print configurations, and standard table size; and the Océ Arizona 660 XT features six independent ink channels, multiple print configurations, and large-format table size. According to CSA, channels five and six can be configured to enhance print speed by adding extra cyan and magenta nozzle capacity; white and varnish channels can be added for specialty applications; and double-opacity white, via use of the sixth channel when varnish isn’t in use, can be used to boost opacity in a variety of industrial applications. opacity in a single printing pass for higher productivity when printing white ink jobs on non-white media or objects.
