In 2017, we saw many changes for BISA, our members and
the industry at large. From the Department of Labor's
fiduciary ruling and the associated compliance requirements
to a new presidential administration, the bank insurance
and securities community experienced continued change in
the past year. In order to respond to this rapidly evolving
environment, BISA enhanced our overall communications
strategy with the successful launch of Portfolio (an online
content repository for industry articles, news and information), Portfolio Weekly (the site's accompanying newsletter)
and a growing social media presence. I encourage you to
make BISA Portfolio one of your primary sources for daily
industry news and information.

BISA recently wrapped up a well-attended Regulatory & Compliance Summit in
Washington D.C. for the benefit of our members. Industry program, compliance
and legal executives heard from industry experts and regulators, including the BISA
Regulatory and Compliance Advisory Board and noteworthy political expert, Andy
Friedman. The Summit also provided an opportunity for peer-to-peer best practice
discussions. A big thanks to the BISA Regulatory and Compliance Education Committee for putting together a strong agenda and creating a successful event!
The New Year is fast approaching and with it will come more updates as we
continually improve our offerings and deliver the most relevant education, content
and events for BISA members. Here are a few updates on what we are working on
for 2018:
Annual Portfolio Print Magazine: As we expand the Portfolio realm of content
sources, we will introduce an annual print magazine to offer insightful content in a
bigger and bolder print format than our quarterly publication. This is an exclusive
annual publication for the BISA audience and will launch in the spring of 2018.
Daily Updates on Portfolio Site: As we transition to an annual publication, we
will have daily updates on the Portfolio site starting in 2018. This allows us to
provide not only briefings on the latest industry news but also topical opinion
pieces, industry analysis, thought-leadership articles and much more. Subscribers
will receive timely content on a more regular basis, so be sure to check out the
Portfolio site every day for relevant news and articles.
Board of Directors Bi-Annual Strategic Retreat: Every two years, the BISA
Board of Directors holds a Strategic Planning Retreat. In January 2018, the board
will gather to develop a clear and actionable strategic plan that will chart BISA's
larger course for the next 2-5 years. As always, the plan will align to BISA's mission and vision as we continue to bring value to our members in the coming years.
2018 Annual Convention: Join BISA leaders and 750+ industry professionals
at the Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Fla., March 6-9 for BISA's Annual
Convention. We continue to incorporate valuable member feedback to design a
convention that delivers actionable content through general sessions and topical
