nailba charitable foundation Meet Your Foundation Leadership T MICHAEL T. SMITH PRESIDENT, NAILBA CHARITABLE FOUNDATION 22 perspectives JULY 2016 he beginning of this year saw some changes to the NAILBA Charitable Foundation Board of Directors, and it occurred to me that it was high time to make some introductions. This dynamic group of people directs the Foundation's activities in brainstorming fundraising and outreach to donors. In the words of Foundation Secretary/Treasurer Robin Landers, "We raise money so we can give it away." Simple, right? Not always the case, however. Fundraising, like sales, is about relationship-building. The Foundation Board "gets" our mission, and helps to get the word out at every opportunity, at their marketing group meetings, as well as very significantly at the NAILBA Annual Meeting. Being on the Foundation Board is a significant commitment of time. Directors are elected to a three-year term, with the possibility of a second three-year term if nominated. Officers are in their chairs for twoyear terms. We meet via conference call six times per year, and meet once face-to-face at the NAILBA Annual Meeting. This year the Board voted to expand by two Director's seats, increasing our outreach possibilities. Without further ado, please allow me to provide brief introductions of this illustrious group (please visit the Foundation's website at for more details on each Board member).
