John Saputo was so appreciative of the excellent lifesaving care he received while a patient in Sarasota Memorial’s intensive care unit (ICU) that he made a donation of $2,500 for nursing education to honor the department’s nursing staff. “During my time in the ICU battling double pneumonia, my doctors diagnosed and prescribed the treatments and medicines, but it was the professional nurses in my ICU unit who did the real job of healing my desperate condition with their compassionate hour-by-hour care and their nurturing of my soul with their tender words of encouragement and hope,” says Col. Grand Bay III Event at Longboat Key 2012 Residents of Grand Bay III on Longboat Key held a FEB. 6, “Have a Heart” party that featured a door prize drawing and an auction of 77 items donated by community businesses. It raised $4,400 for Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation, Inc. to support medical care in our community. 23 2012 JAN. 11, Roberta Leventhal Sudakoff Catheterization Suite Dedicated The Roberta Leventhal Sudakoff Cardiac Catheterization Suite on the second ﬂoor of Sarasota Memorial Hospital comprises four catheterization labs, three electrophysiology labs, and a 20-bed preand postoperative area for patients. Grants totaling $2.3 million from the Roberta Leventhal Sudakoff Foundation to the Healthcare Foundation have made it possible for the hospital to acquire lifesaving electrophysiology, cardiac catheterization and monitoring technology. Due in part to the generosity of the Roberta Leventhal Sudakoff Foundation, Sarasota Memorial is able to perform more complex and advanced cardiac procedures with outcomes comparable to major academic medical centers, allowing patients to receive leading-edge care right here in our community.
