Wage rates are competitive in Jamaica, between 40 -60 percent less than in the United States, but global vendors have revealed that ﬁxed-line telecommunications costs remain high compared to other outsourcing markets. However, recent competitiveness measures in the sector should make outbound/inbound calls cheaper for enterprises. Jamaica’s system of free trade zones recently terminated an exclusivity agreement with ICT provider Cable & Wireless. This has freed up enterprises to choose other local providers including Flow – another major ﬁxed line and internet services provider in Jamaica.
