El eje central de esta visión es una nueva evolución del
EMS: el EMS con controles de retroalimentación más rápidos
(EMS/C), facilitado por D-WASA y la infraestructura
y herramientas relacionadas. Esta automatización en bucle
cerrado contrasta con el EMS actual, que, excepto para el
control automático de la generación (AGC, por sus siglas en
inglés) y el control de la tensión secundaria, se basa sobre
todo en los controles de realimentación del mercado e impulsados
por el ser humano.
Lecciones aprendidas de una red con
dinámicas volátiles
Una red 4D significa una red más " dinámica " , sobre todo por
la reducción de la inercia debida al reemplazo de la generación
convencional por dispositivos interconectados con la
electrónica de potencia. En la figura 1, se ilustra la correlación
entre la reducción de la inercia y la degradación de la
respuesta en frecuencia. Este registro de una interconexión
latinoamericana real muestra oscilaciones de muy baja frecuencia
mal amortiguadas causadas por una pérdida de
generación del 10 %. La generación total incorporada es de
7,350 MW en la primera etapa y de 6,700 MW en la segunda.
A medida que disminuye la inercia, la frecuencia de modo
común (a 0.05 Hz en la figura 1) se vuelve más inestable
para eventos de gravedad similar. Las oscilaciones inestables
espontáneas de señales débiles y una disminución del
nadir para la misma pérdida de generación son posibles consecuencias
de la inercia variable en el tiempo. Estos riesgos
plausibles de inestabilidad justifican una conciencia situacional
más dinámica en redes 4D con una inercia reducida y
variable en el tiempo.
Tras una contingencia, D-WASA puede procesar con rapidez
los estados de los generadores para derivar métricas de
estabilidad basadas en la respuesta, como los índices de gravedad
de área amplia (WASI, por sus siglas en inglés). Otras
métricas que con frecuencia se tienen en cuenta son la tasa
de cambio de energía transitoria (RoCoTE, por sus siglas en
inglés), la tasa de cambio de frecuencia (ROCOF, por sus
siglas en inglés) y la tasa de cambio de tensión (ROCOV, por
sus siglas en inglés). Las métricas de estabilidad estimadas
se transmiten después a los despachadores como previsiones
de lo lejos que está el sistema del límite de inestabilidad
después de la contingencia (después de la perturbación). Por
consiguiente, si la ROCOV es negativa y la magnitud de la
tensión está por debajo de un umbral especificado, el sistema
