Pace also added two new routes from the Northwest Transportation Center in Schaumburg. Special event bus service to Ryan Field in Evanston covering Northwestern Wildcats football games began in September, along with new rush hour service (Route 895) from Chicago Ridge and Rosemont to major employment centers in Schaumburg, which began earlier in 2012. As always, efforts to reduce costs while maintaining high quality transit services is a realized priority for the village. Schaumburg anticipates receiving upwards of $350,000 in funding to offset operating costs for our DART and Trolley services – a potential increase of approximately $100,000 from the level of funding in 2011. Additionally, Schaumburg’s cooperative funding agreements with Pace keeps routes like 554 and 602 operating at costs that are greatly reduced to the village because of these beneficial partnerships. Village personnel worked with an organization called MoreAbled, Inc., in partnership with the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), to bring five presentations to groups of seniors and disabled persons at the Schaumburg Barn, Friendship Village, and Cedar Village in 2012. The presentations were designed to show how easy it is to use available mass transit services for the senior and disabled communities.
