At ESB Networks, we build
and maintain Ireland's
electricity network,
connecting you to a clean
electric future. For over 12
years now, ESB Networks has
been committed to excellence
in relation to the management
of our network assets and
have committed to achieving
and retaining certification to
the internationally-recognised
asset management standard
ISO55001. As part of this
ongoing commitment,
ESB
Networks recently completed
a rigorous re-certification
audit,
conducted by our
external auditors Lloyds
Register.
We are delighted and proud
to have been recommended
for continued certification to
ISO55001 across our business.
The internationally-recognised
standard ISO55001 is hugely
beneficial to our business to
act as assurance to all our
stakeholders (internal and
external) about the way we
manage the network assets.
Following two weeks of
extensive
audit,
re-certification
by Lloyds Register,
which covered the entire ESB
Networks business, we are
delighted to advise that ESB
Networks has successfully
achieved recertification to
the ISO55001 standard for
Asset Management.
Recertifications
are undertaken
every three years and present
challenges for any business
as proof of compliance with
every clause of the standard
is fully reviewed. This is a very
substantial achievement and a
very important verification of
the high standards to which
ESB Networks manages all its
network assets.
re-certification across all of
these areas, we have also
successfully added metering
assets to our accreditation for
the first time.
In order to meet this
standard of excellence there
has been a lot of hard work,
dedication and engagement
across the business to
ensure success. The role of
everybody involved
in
the
audit, from providing support,
participating in audit sessions,
on-site sessions,
sharing
knowledge and information
and doing all the necessary
preparation, is a credit to all of
you and greatly appreciated.
The auditors have recognised
this excellent performance,
the friendly and open
engagements and high level
of dedication from everybody
involved.
The combined
efforts across the business in
successfully delivering this
standard of excellence is a
considerable achievement for
ESB Networks. Well done to
all involved.
Operational Excellence, Enterprise Services,
achieve an industry-recognised Lean
Competency System accreditation for ESB
CONGRATULATIONS GO
TO Operational
Excellence,
who achieved an industryrecognised
Lean Competency
System (LCS) accreditation
for ESB.
This prestigious
accreditation positions ESB as a
leader in training and applying
international standards to Lean
Competency methodologies,
enhancing and developing
capability in our people. LCS is
the only university-linked lean
qualification
framework for
the workplace under licence
from Cardiff University.
There are many benefits to
achieving this accreditation,
including improved
quality,
cost and value
to all Enterprise Services
customers as endorsed by
one of our customers, Gillian
Glavin,
NCD
Customer Delivery) Service
Hub Manager, ESB Networks:
" The NCD Service
Hub was lucky to have
been able to take part in a
training programme with
the Operational Excellence
team. We learned to identify
and quantify improvements
that would save processing
time on the team. We also
identified all of the tasks
on the team and who is
trained on each, which is a
really valuable skills matrix
that I use all of the time. "
Lean
Academy
launch
To coincide with the
accreditation,
Operational
(Networks
Excellence launched the Lean
Academy in August, enabling
ESB to directly train and
qualify our people, enhancing
our high-performance culture.
To date, 66 team members
have successfully achieved
certification. Twenty of the
team are currently virtually
studying for a more in-depth
Operational Excellence
qualification over the next
three months. The programme
includes five training modules,
a knowledge test and 1:1
coaching. The final projects
will be based on real business
challenges and applying real
life solutions.
Operational Excellence
is now well positioned to
support ESB's capability
development in Lean and
Process Improvement and
look forward to following the
ongoing delivery of the strong
value that this capability will
deliver.
