which it will seal. A low seal initiation temperature enhances productivity on packaging equipment.
ORIENTED INNOVATION. A biaxially oriented PP (BOPP) film from
an international supplier based in the
South is used extensively for bakery
applications and designed to run on
high-speed wrapping, or horizontal
f/f/s equipment. A sealant coating on
one side and a PVDC barrier coating
on the other provide a less complex
alternative to the traditional PP
lamination with three or four plies.
The PVDC side serves as a barrier to
water vapor, gases and aromas and
also provides good printability. A
low seal initiation temperature of
150°F and a wide sealing range of
150 to 290°F mean less pressure and
dwell time are needed for sealing.
As a result, packaging machines can
run faster and productivity is maximized. Available in three gauges, 80,
100 and 125, the film offers good optical properties and is suitable for use
alone or as part of a lamination.
A metallized oriented PP (OPP)
not only provides good barrier properties but also incorporates a sealant
compatible with zipper stock. Ordinarily if bakery and snack makers
want to include a zipper reclosure,
a special sealant layer must be added
to the film. Integrating this functionality eliminates the need for a sealant
coating step and reduces production costs. Designed to replace the
