HOW TO EARN IT - Hike the Sherando Lake Loop.
This relatively easy 2.5-mile hike will carry you through
the Sherando Lake Recreation Area around a 25-acre
lake. Toward the end, follow the steep and demanding Blue Loop Trail uphill to the Torry Ridge and an
overlook at Lookout Rock. From there, enjoy splendid
- and most likely isolated - views of the lake and
the Blue Ridge Parkway. After a bit of backtracking,

THE SHOP - Sweet Things. Named the Best Ice Cream

Shop in the Shenandoah Valley in 2014, this familyowned gem has been a Lexington staple since 1982.
Located one block from South Main Street, it sits
directly across from the gorgeously walkable campus

of Washington & Lee University. A visit will carry
you back in time and, for patrons of a certain age,
probably inspire thoughts of the "Andy Griffith Show."

THE PRODUCT - Homemade ice cream and
hand-rolled waffle cones made daily from ingredients sourced at the Lexington farmer's market. With
milk shakes, sundaes, banana splits, cakes, sorbet,
and pies to boot.
KILLER FLAVORS - Twenty-four flavors are on
tap always. Classics like vanilla, Oreo, Reese's, cookie
dough, chocolate peanut butter and various sorbets
are offered in perpetuum. A second freezer boasts
seasonally changing options like Mocha Chip, Coffee
