N ew Orleans’ sophistication as a destination is even more evident when you examine the religious devotion that underpins the unabashedly fun-loving city. 94 APRIL 2013 usairwaysmag.com Pope John Paul II reached millions across the globe as one of the ﬁrst popes to take an international role. Leaders from all major religions have praised the exhibit and joined as cohosts. In the pre-exhibition ﬁlm (included with admission) visitors will get an overview of the Pope’s life before seeing his vestments, writings, and personal items on loan from the Blessed John Paul II Shrine in Washington, DC. Photographs mark his 1987 visit to New Orleans. If your interests lie in history and art, Portrait of Faith remains immensely fascinating. The religious art of three world-renowned artists, Gib Singleton, Frederick Hart, and Fred Villanueva, will be exclusively showcased in the exhibit. The exhibition is presented in partnership with the Museum of Biblical Art in Dallas, Texas.
