FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 300 East Main Street | www.fpceldorado.org FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH has a longstanding history in downtown El Dorado. From its original location on South Washington to its current location on Main Street, it has been a source of comfort and solace for all who worship there. First built in 1848, the church has been involved in a variety of ministries. It was dedicated in its current location in 1872, with a chapel and education wing added in 1955. Its largest presence is found in the 16-note Deagan Chime System that can be heard throughout the downtown area every hour. One of 70 El Dorado Insider only 440 tubular carillon bells ever built in the nation, it has dependably called the faithful to worship since 1922. First Presbyterian Church enjoys a robust music program that is gearing up for an annual Choir Christmas Concert, a Handbell Concert, an Organ Concert, and the annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service where the choir and congregation join to praise the Lord through familiar hymns and carols. First Presbyterian is a church of long-standing tradition with an eye to the future. p Photography: Dero Sanfordhttp://www.fpceldorado.org
