tor of KBB may be more professional than what
goes on in my personal life, I still have so much
fun doing it.
So far, we have covered what it's like being an
interior designer and a product designer with
Matthew Quinn, as well as nine months in the life
of Ariana Lovato, who, while pregnant, was also
running her own business. We talked to HGTV
personality John Colaneri on the nuances of working
with couples during renovation projects, and
we spoke to designer Sharon Sherman on the best
practices of fi nding a great contractor and fostering
that relationship moving forward.
John McClain shared all he knows about today's
outdoor living explosion, and Patty Davis
Brown dished on the pet peeves of being a designer.
Bill Feinberg told our industry how we can
help with the skilled labor shortage, and Morgan
Molitor reinforced the importance of doing what's
best for your clients (and not always what you
think is best).
By the time this issue comes out, we will have
CELEBRATING TRADITION AND CHANGE
I
am two books away from hitting my goal of reading 50 in 2021. As of
press time, I still had about six weeks to go, so I may end up surpassing
my goal. I know a lot of people who read from a tablet and others who
listen to an audio format, but I like the old-school experience of holding
a book in my hands and fl ipping the pages.
Th at's not surprising given that I am a print magazine editor, but one
thing that is notable is my newfound interest in listening to (not necessarily
watching) YouTube videos and podcasts. I do also occasionally listen to
audio books when I am driving long distances, and yes, I have counted a few
of those as part of achieving my 50-book goal this year.
What's even more surprising is that I love conducting video interviews
with industry experts that we post to our KBB YouTube page and myriad
podcast platforms. Who knew there were so many? I haven't always been
comfortable with public speaking, and most of my interviews during my
career have taken place over the phone, but now that every other one of my
meetings (maybe more) is on camera, I am totally fl uent in it. I even feel like I
am pretty good at engaging my subjects in lively discussions about important
- and out of the box - topics.
Always one for asking my friends random questions about their lives when
we get together, I am completely at home doing the same with my colleagues
and peers in our industry. And although what I discuss as the executive edi06

wrong choice.
Hopefully you have been following along, and I

editor, Leslie Clagett. She has been involved in the
kitchen and bath industry for several years, and I
am sure many of you may have already crossed
