Dynamic Systems launches low-cost version
of traceability system
Dynamic Systems Inc. has launched a low-cost version of
its SIMBA traceability and inventory tracking system for fresh
food producers.
The new version of SIMBA, called SIMBA Lite, is designed to
give smaller produce growers, packers and shippers accessibility
to the same features of higher-level traceability systems.
Implementation is under $10,000.
Some features include:
Labeling requirements. The SIMBA Lite system prints
Produce Traceability Initiative- (PTI) compliant serialized case
and pallet labels in a batch format designed to make them
easy to adhere to finished goods as they come off the pack
line. The printed labels are recorded in the SIMBA database
as inventory, with all specific characteristics of the product
type, grade, size, weight, etc., and it is easy to print reports
that provide full traceability meeting government regulations.
Inventory and shipping. Inventory is created as labels
are printed, providing a perpetual in stock inventory. When
product is shipped from SIMBA, information regarding the
customer, date, etc. is recorded, closing the traceability loop
and allowing inventory in stock to be reduced.
Ability to upgrade. SIMBA Lite users can upgrade with
the mobile application, SIMBA Logistics, which uses barcode
scanners to track inventory within a warehouse and to
automatically reduce inventory as product is shipped. SIMBA
Lite can be upgraded to SIMBA Pro, which brings the label
printing onto the plant floor and provides real-time inventory
and production information along with increased productivity.
Dynamic Systems is based in Bellevue, Washington. For more

* Association analysis shows that the foodservice industry has
lost $165 billion in revenue March-July and is on track to lose
$240 billion this year.
* Our research estimates that for 2020, at least 100,000
restaurants will close, but the initial scope of closures won't
be known until government statistics are released in the
months ahead.
* 60% of operators say their restaurant's total operational costs
(as a percent of sales) are higher than they were prior to the
COVID-19 outbreak.
* On average, restaurant operators say their current staffing
levels are only 71% of what they would typically be in the
absence of COVID-19.
* In a recent consumer survey, 56% of adults said they are
aware of a restaurant in their community that permanently
closed during the pandemic.
The survey also found that 40% of operators think it is
unlikely their restaurant will still be in business six months from
now if there are no additional relief packages from the federal
government. The Association highlighted this for Congress
and the Trump Administration in a letter, asking them to use
bipartisan support to pass small business programs in standalone

Dilution Solutions announces new peracetic
acid control panel for wash water
Dilution Solutions has announced a new peracetic acid (PAA)

such as E. coli and listeria, as produce is washed in

Restaurant industry on pace to lose
$240 billion in '20
According to a survey released Sept. 14 by the National
Restaurant Association, nearly 1 in 6 restaurants (representing
nearly 100,000 restaurants) is closed either permanently or
long-term; nearly 3 million employees are still out of work; and
the industry is on track to lose $240 billion in sales by the end
of the year.
The survey, which asked restaurant operators about the sixmonth
impact of the pandemic on their businesses, found that
overwhelmingly, most restaurants are still struggling to survive
and don't expect their position to improve over the next six
months. The findings include:

cleaned efficiently. Food safety and water conservation are the top
priorities. The PAA control panel provides an automated, simplified
system that is affordable, easy to install and simple to use.
The panel samples, measures, and replenishes peracetic acid
(PAA) in these recirculating water applications. The Etatron eOne
Plus Pump includes input signals from an electrode, a built-in
controller function, doses proportionally relative to the setpoint,
and includes a degassing head.
" Because water can become a breeding ground for bacteria
and other pathogens, the water has to be treated with a
sanitizer, " said Lori Donnell, Dilutions Solutions technical sales
representative, through a press release. " The advantage of this
system is that it is simple and requires no extra controller. It's
just the pump, filter, and probe, and includes easy-to-follow
step-by-step installation instructions. "
