CHAPTER NEWS
District 10
AHEPA Chapter 195, Ann Arbor, Mich.
The chapter recognized Ahepans whose accomplishments help to strengthen
the Order at its annual Christmas party held at The Cottage Inn Restaurant.
Brother John Peppes received the " Chapter 195 Leadership Award, " given to
an up-and-coming leader. Brother George Kokales (pictured) received the " Mr.
Chapter 195 Award, " given to the most involved member. Brother Nicholas
Stamos received the chapter's " Lifetime Achievement Award " for his many years
of unselfish giving of his time and stalwart leadership. In 2022, the chapter gained
four members, Brothers Tony Apone, Michael Kasotakis, Jonah Radwanski and
Alex Theros, although sadly, mourned the passing of Past Supreme Governor
John Pappas and Brother Sam Roumanis. In January, the chapter held its first wine tasting event that fostered warm fellowship.
District 11
AHEPA Dayton Chapter 113, Dayton, Ohio
More than 50 Ahepans attended the annual Christmas dinner hosted
by Daughters of Penelope Polydama Chapter 111, on December 5,
2022. District 11 Lodge officers Steve and Jim Papakirk attended.
District 14
James L Karthan Chapter 192, Des Moines, Iowa
Ahepans and Daughters of Penelope members honored their most senior
brother, George Mirras, on his 100th
birthday, October 18, 2022. Chapter 192
is raising money to sponsor its second service dog this year, which will be
named after Brother George who is a World War II and Korean War veteran.
He received multiple citations as well as a bronze star. The chapter also held
a toy drive to benefit MercyOne Child Life Services. Chapter President Jim
Christakos and Chapter Vice President Nick Nopoulos were able to deliver the
toys to the program facilitator, Kenzie Olsen, at MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines on January 31, 2023.
District 16
Delta District 16
The district, through its Academic Scholarship Fund, is pleased to announce its first donation aimed to create an
ongoing scholarship for medical school students available to the district's AHEPA family members. This year's
scholarship recipient is Yannis Minetos of Houston. He will attend Texas A&M University Medical School in the
fall. The district is proud and wishes Yannis well in his studies in Medicine. Annually, the district seeks to fully
fund a student who has been accepted to a State of Texas medical school and it is the district's hope that the
student cherish and keep faith with their Hippocratic Oath and carry forth the ideals of Hellenism throughout
their career.
