We know that place!
Kasey Reems of Demorest recently shared
a photo of her and her sister, Ashley Worley of
Clarkesville, with their mother, Nancy Tomlin
of Mount Airy, at the Whistle Stop Cafe in
Juliette. The cafe, made popular by the 1991
film " Fried Green Tomatoes, " was highlighted
in Georgia Magazine's October 2022 " Picture
this? " contest.
" We surprised Mom for her birthday by
taking her to eat at the Whistle Stop Cafe, "
Reems says. " We have seen the movie 'Fried
Green Tomatoes' many times. The pecan
cobbler was the highlight of our meal! "

Last year, electric membership
cooperatives (EMCs) across the nation
celebrated the return of the Washington
Youth Tour, the electric industry's
premier youth-leadership program.
The tour has a long and distinguished
history as a youth outreach program,
but, as with so many things, the
COVID-19 pandemic caused it to be
canceled in 2020 and 2021.
In June, 70 Georgia high school

Reems adds that she had not entered the " Picture this? " contest in the past, but
she knew the location of the October 2022 photo as soon as she saw it in the magazine.

students representing 26 EMCs visited
our nation's capital, where they
embarked on a weeklong adventure
of touring museums and landmarks,
meeting with elected officials and
learning firsthand about American
history and how our government works.
High school students in Cobb
County can gain firsthand experience
in a variety of careers at the Cobb
Innovation & Technology Academy in
Marietta. As one of the school district's
six magnet programs, the academy
offers more than a dozen career paths
in categories such as maker industries,
emerging technologies and health care
and community services.

academy is helping students learn
through hands-on experiences that
prepare them for jobs in high-demand
industries such as surgical technology,
carpentry and cybersecurity.
For a student who enjoys science
and loves animals, a career as a
veterinarian might be a good fit. These
dedicated professionals understand the
importance of animal welfare and the
relationships between animals and
humans.
