Volunteerism is in his blood:
Jose M. Gomez Alonso
With nearly two decades of
volunteering under his belt, Jose
M. Gomez Alonso knows the ins
and outs of SAE International.
His journey with SAE began in
2004 as a faculty advisor for the
University of Central Venezuela
(Universidad Central de
Venezuela) Baja SAE and
Formula SAE teams.
Today, he is a senior industrial
mechanical engineer, global field
operations, The Boeing Company,
and has applied his mobility
knowledge to volunteer work for
SAE student engineers. He
recently served as a design judge
at the May Formula SAE student
competition.
" It was so rewarding to receive
emails from students requesting
more information or coaching
following the Formula
competition, " said Gomez
Alonso, " It is professionally
satisfying and one of the
pleasures I love as a volunteer; it
makes me feel complete! "
In addition to his involvement
in SAE University Programs,
Gomez Alonso currently serves as
the chair of the SAE International
Florida Section, a role he's held

since 2019.
Volunteering
allows Gomez
Alonso to give back
to his community,
influencing the next
generation of
engineering
students. At the university level, he is able to make an
impact on the young professionals who are the future
of the mobility industry.
