Carol Rudman, a senior international trade specialist with the
Commerce Department's Global
Trade Programs, explained that
a growing number of American
businesses, including suppliers
to the baking industry, are looking to expand their international
presence because 95% of consumers live outside of the US. In many
parts of the world, the baking industry is growing at a more robust
rate than domestically.
"Whether an exhibitor is new
to export or wants to expand its
international presence, we have
the expertise to help them diversify their portfolio and add to the
bottom line," she said.
To encourage greater global participation, IBIE 2010 organizers
expanded the depth of its education program with dozens of sessions designed to improve product
quality, productivity and profitability, Ms. Clair said.
The Tortilla Industry Association's (TIA) Technical Seminar will
co-locate with the IBIE show, with
sessions held Sept. 25-26 and will
focus on operational skills, safety
regulations, plant efficiency and
other best practices for flatbread
producers of all types. Attendees
to TIA's seminar also will be able
to attend the IBIE show. For Latin
American visitors, AIB International again will offer a number of
seminars on new products, equipment design and reducing overhead
that are conducted in Spanish.
Perhaps one of the biggest draws
will be the Louis Lesaffre Cup regional competition. Currently, 12
countries from North and South
America, including Argentina,
Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia,
Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Peru,
